After graduating from the Architectural Association School of Architecture, London (AAdip, 2012), Ruohong Wu worked as a multidisciplinary practitioner encompassing the realms of art, architecture, design, and research. She consistently challenges society’s established paradigms and dogmatic disciplines through the replication, parasitization, and mutation of unified systems. She co-founded “This was a project, but we have forgotten what it was, " exploring research and publishing as a means of public assembly. Since early 2020, Ruohong has been principally focused on her PhD research, "Copy as Original, Artists as Medium: from Sturtevant to General Idea," with an expected completion date of 2025/26 and supervised by Professor Emilio Tuñon at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.

Her artistic and design work has been exhibited internationally, such as at ARANA, Madrid, The Aram Gallery London, BEER Gallery London, London Design Festival, Somerset House London, Milan Design Week, Antwerp Art Weekends, and Madrid City Hall; widely published in the New York Times, El Croquis, Milk, Cover magazine, etc. Teaching assumes a fundamental role within Ruohong’s professional practice, wherein she directs her attention towards the Research by Design methodology, focusing on subjects deeply intertwined with cultural diversity, collective memory, and material culture.

She imparts knowledge and delivers lectures at design and architecture institutions such as the Architectural Association School in London, École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris-La Villette, KU Leuven University, University of Antwerp, Central Academy of Fine Arts in China, China Academy of Art, and Universidad Europea de Madrid.

Ruohong is currently based in the Netherlands.
